I guess I fit perfectly in the definition of a commuter, since I must take a bus everyday, for over 45 minutes, in order to go to work. This seems to be a trend more and more often in Madrid. When I started working five years ago in my current position, I was the only commuter from my area. Nowadays three more people have added, with two of them having been rellocated from different cities in Spain to Madrid. Here another evidence of the stupid housing prices in Madrid is disclosed. Someday, sooner or later, the bubble must explode.
The reality is that more and more cities in Europe are getting empty because people cannot afford a house there and they are obliged to live in the surroundings. London is having this kind of problems and in Paris finding basic shops in the city centre has become almost impossible. This fact leads to huge traffic jams and crowded trains in the mornings, and huge amounts of our lifes wasted...
As far as I am concerned, I would like to give up with my commuter's life but I cannot. The only thing I can do is swap houses in the surroundings, but this will not solve the problem. When I lived in London, I used to walk for fifteen minutes to work. I dream with the day I can do it again...
