Christmas in Valencia

I have spend these days with my family in Valencia, a city which I know quite well since I have visited it several times during my lifetime. In this years, the city has really changed and now it seems quite attractive to the visitor.

Valencia, as happens with Barcelona, has an enormous asset when compared with Madrid: the sea. It has lived without looking at the sea for ages, but now the Malvarrosa beach has been rediscovered. It is an endless beach, easily reachable by bus or tram. Besides, the America's Cup port has also helped in this awakening of the importance of the sea in Valencia.

The city centre is also remarkable, with its cathedral and hundreds of palaces from the Middle Age. Wandering through it (better with the daylight) is really nice and peaceful. In the cathedral, in a small chapel on the right, the Holy Grial is kept... Yeah, Indiana Jones was spending so much energy in this quest and it was right there, in front of his eyes!
Valencia is also well-known in Spain as a place where the lottery prize is usually sold. So, if you want to try it, just go to a lottery administration in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento... My last advise is devoted to draughts: try a cup chocolate or a "horchata" (typical drink from Valencia) in an old and cosy café, just in front of the Church of Santa Catalina. Delicious...
