These days, one of my mother's uncles, aged around 80 and single, has been moved to a geriatric institution after some health difficulties. He has around 20 nephews as well as two brothers and two sisters. Obviously, this new situation where my uncle needs help 24-7 has caused a storm in our family. So far, I am a bit ashamed of stating that only five of us have really look after him (not only showing up to keep the "protocol").
We have those who never took care of him, but now, smelling the money he may have (how much money can a peasant have?), are getting more and more concerned. This is such a disgusting behaviour that I will not waste my blog with that.
Then, some in my family are upset because they were not consulted when deciding about my uncle. Well, we are about 30 people to consult and we were in a hurry, we could not open a debate about it. Now, that we have found a temporal solution, we can discuss with time and tranquility about him.
I can observe some strange behaviours, people do not willing to take any responsibility with him and ready for sending him to a geriatric centre and forgetting about him until the dawn of times. It is so unfair and selfish.
It is widely said here in Spain that only time places everyone where he belongs. As time goes by, truth arises and masks disappear. This sentence could apply to our situation, since I am knowing the real face of my family.
One of the main results of this has been learning how I do have people in my family who not only do not solve problems, but add new ones. That has been quite disappointing, indeed. But if we keep the positive ones, let's mention here Pauli, Joaquín and Marga. Using an expression by my English teacher Jennifer: they are the bee's knees!!!!!! I feel proud of calling them one of my own!!!!!
